Jono Zalay

Jono Zalay started life and standup in San Diego. In 2006 he moved to Boston where he became a staple at New England comedy clubs, all while earning his Doctorate in Neuroscience. Since 2008 he has been invited to perform in over 20 comedy festivals, winning all of them in the “most fun” category he made up. Jono now lives in New York City where he has been featured in Time Out New York and Comedy Central’s ‘Up Next’ talent search. His informed background brings a perspective to stand-up comedy unequaled by almost any PhD in Neuroscience. Follow him on Twitter. Visit his website here.

The Big Show

Reminiscent of such goliaths as Andre the Giant and Big John Studd, Big Show is a feared competitor who intimidates opponents with his size and stare alone. The World’s Largest Athlete’s measurements are astounding. He weighs 441 pounds, stands a mighty 7-feet tall, wears a 22 EEEEE size shoe and boasts a 64-inch chest. It’s no surprise then that his in-ring debut left a crater-sized impression on the likes of Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair in WCW, where the young giant captured the WCW Championship on two occasions, along with the WCW Tag Team Championship.

In 1999, Show emerged as a global star upon signing with WWE, where he collided with Superstars of great acclaim and captured a slew of titles, including the WWE Championship. From “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and The Rock to The Undertaker and Triple H, there’s no top name in the business who hasn’t succumbed to the man’s battering ram of a fist. He’s even gone toe-to-toe with world champion boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr., who only managed to clean Show’s clock at WrestleMania XXIV with the aid of brass knuckles.

On a lighter note, The World’s Largest Athlete happens to be the world’s largest fan of the Rat Pack. He’s also an expert auto mechanic and owns a 64-foot yacht dubbed “Showdaddie.” And unlike the giants before him, Big Show harbors a sense of humor, which he put on full display in WWE Studios’ 2010 theatrical release, “Knucklehead.”

Yet make no mistake, Show, the first man to capture the WWE, WCW and ECW Championships, is still more proficient at delivering punches than punchlines. At 2011’s Vengeance, he unleashed a devastating half-ton superplex on Mark Henry, which not only shook the ring to its core, but also caused it to implode. Now that’s high impact. At WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs 2011, Show captured his first World Heavyweight Championship and won the Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania XXVIII, marking another first for WWE’s giant.

The World’s Largest Athlete took a hiatus in summer 2013 but returned in early fall to voice disapproval over COO Triple H’s heavy-handed rule of the organization. At the 27th annual Survivor Series, Big Show threatened the reign of The Authority-endorsed WWE Champion, Randy Orton. The title was all but in the challenger’s massive hands, until the sudden arrival of The Authority enabled The Viper to drop the distracted giant.

Big Show competed in the 20-Superstar U.S. Championship Battle Royal on the May 5 edition of Raw, but was unable to avoid elimination when a group of Superstars banded together to eliminate the big man.

Still in possession of the world’s largest mean streak, Big Show remains a monstrous threat. Best of luck to anyone who crosses his path. Follow his twitter here.

Thursday

Thai Rivera

Thai Rivera will make you uncomfortable in the best way possible. His politically incorrect style of humor has taken the comedy world by storm.

Having moved from Arizona to LA Thai quickly became a fixture and force on the comedy scene. After becoming a favorite and regular at clubs such as the Hollywood Improv and World Famous Laugh Factory he started to travel across the country in the most unlikely of places, redneck bars.

He has performed with some of the biggest name’s in the world of stand up, some of you may recognize him from the Jo Koy Comedy Tour, he has also been featured on Comedy Central’s Live At Gotham and The Logo Network’s One Night Stand up.

While Thai is very proud of who and what he is his disarming style and easy going delivery will put you at ease and there is no doubt that by the end of his set you will understand that Thai is comic who happens to be gay and not a gay comic, or as he would put it “a comic who happens to be a fag and not a fag comic.”

Thai’s comedy has not only taken him across this country but as far away as Austraiia and Thule Greenland where he performed for our troops. Follow him on twitter. Visit his website here.

Friday

Dave Landau

Working the road nonstop since his 21st birthday, Dave Landau has grown into a true comedic juggernaut. Finding himself much in-demand among audiences and club owners due to his deadpan demeanor and those jokes — my God, those jokes — that fluidly fly forth with breakneck pacing and perfect timing. Dave, it can be said with all due respect, is a throwback to another era of comedy. The entertaining everyman. Innocent enough at first blush; as he states his case, you begin to see where you and he have quite a bit in common. A wife, a house. An odd sense of calm in an increasingly crazy world. You’re on a tour of the familiar and prosaic, with Dave Landau as the bus driver.

Then he drops his foot on the accelerator. And things start to get wild. You see, Dave Landau might appear to be just like you, but he’s not really. His mind goes to places that angels would fear to tread, and he has no problem telling you about it. The mark of a great comedian, it is said, is the ability to find jokes where others would find tears. Dave find jokes everywhere; with his own foibles and faults, to his family, to pop culture and the state of the world today.

Cutting his comedic teeth as a teenager in Detroit in the Second City’s Conservatory, Dave Landau has risen to become one of the most in-demand headliners working today. He’s appeared on Comedy Central’s “Live At Gotham” as well as being featured prominently on two consecutive seasons of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.” He’s become a regular on the nationally-syndicated “Bob & Tom” radio show, and was honored as one of the top 21 club comics of today at HBO’s Las Vegas Comedy Festival.
