Laughs with
a Message

Ty Barnett has gained a reputation among people who talk about him, for being able to take hot button issues like racism, drug addiction and politics and put his own unique spin on them. As a standup comedian, that’s a very good trait to have. But Ty's not just about jokes, he also wants to make his audiences think at the same time. Or in other words he presents "Laughs with a Message" Barnett’s television credits include The Late Late Show with Craig Furgeson, The Fugitive, Star Search, Last Comic Standing, Comedy Central, and VH1. He was also featured in nationwide commercials for K-Swiss shoes.

The Pain of
Ross Bennett

Comedian Eddy Strange used to be comedian Ross Bennett, until he switched back to his god-given name, followed by a change back to Strange, and then finally returning as Ross Bennett, version 3.0. Got all that? Once he made the executive decision to pick a moniker for himself and stick with it, Bennett became the "best kept secret in show business." His entertainment career began when he dropped out of West Point during his sophomore year in order to take up a life of comedy and theater. Though his parents didn't find the career change all that humorous at first, who's laughing now that Bennett has been able to make a name (or two) for himself doing work he loves. Ross recently released his first CD, New York Country, and made another appearance on the B&T project Man Boobs, with his track about the watching TV with his grandmother.

True Stories
He Made Up

We're always excited to hear that the unpredictable Daniel Tosh will be joining us on the air, but we're even happier to hear that he'll actually be appearing live in the studio. This way we might actually get to watch him strip again! Not that we're into that kind of thing. Tosh is not only one of our favorite guests, he's also one of the most outrageous young comedians working today, which is why we're recommending you pick up his new album, True Stores I Made Up. Tosh is a Tonight Show veteran, has been featured on The Late Show with David Letterman a number of times, starred in a series of Taco Bell commercials and dreams of one day hosting his own talk show.

FACTOID - Daniel Tosh was born in Germany.

Louis C.K., Shameless
To say Louis C.K. has done it all would be too vague, but to list it all would take too long, so instead we'll give you a quick review of some of the highlights of his career. A Tonight Show, Late Night and Late Show veteran, Louis C.K. has not only appeared on almost every comedy television show, he’s also written for a number of them. Louis began his standup career in 1987 with an open mic night that went horribly wrong. Luckily for Louis, he didn’t let that first performance discourage him because if he had, he never would have been nominated for four Emmy Awards (winning one) while working on the Chris Rock Show, made a number of comedy shorts that have been featured at Sundance Film Festival, and directed a couple of cult classic movies like Pootie Tang. Louis recently found himself back in front of the camera performing in his very own HBO standup special, Shameless, which is now available on DVD.

Hard to Say, Easy to Enjoy
If the name didn't tip you off, comedian Costaki Economopoulos comes from a Greek background, which is why it's not surprising he's been described as a “joke philosopher.” And we're positive he's not the only one saying that. Known for his clever writing, Costaki's punch lines have been heard on
The Tonight Show, BET, and MTV. In other news, Costaki is featured twice on the new BOB&TOM album We Just Landed with his Economonologue and is dating the beautiful and funny comedienne, Caroline Rhea.

You've Heard
Words to Remember...

Tim Bedore has been a weekly Wednesday fixture on the show with his Vague But True editorials, which is why we're so eager to find out what his first installment of 2008 will be about. Over the past few years, these musings have helped us learn a lot about Tim, including his daughter's relationship with their dog Lexie and the speech he would have given if universities had asked him to talk to their graduates. But no matter the topic, we're happy he'll be reporting on it from his new home up north, where the introverts stare at their shoes and the extroverts stare at your shoes.

The NFL Song - Conference Championship Edition
After two crazy weeks and a number of high-profile upsets, we're down to just four teams in the NFL Playoffs. And if your team happened to be one of the ones that lost last week, you might have shut off your TV in disgust. But don't worry if you missed any of the action because Duke Tumatoe's back to recap all the exciting action you might have missed in his tribute to all things professional football, The NFL Song. With all the craziness taking place over the past few weeks, Duke's got a lot of pressure on him to fit everything into one exhilarating song. And who knows, maybe this week we'll even be treated to a new episode of Bass Talk.

Better Than Your Home Videos
Over the past few years, J.J. Abrams has become a household name with his television series LOST and Alias, and movies like Mission Impossible: III.  And with these hits, he’s solidified himself as a master of action, suspense, cliffhangers and plot-twists, traits that all look to be present in his new top-secret project, Cloverfield.  For months now, the Internet has been a buzz with teasers for this new film, but little was known about it.  The only thing given away was that the entire thing was shot as if it was captured on home video cameras, and that there was a big freakin’ monster destroying New York City.  This Friday, the wait to find out what the hell is going on is finally over as Cloverfield hits theaters nationwide.

FACTOID – J.J. Abrams  is set to direct the upcoming Star Trek movie that follows the first meeting of Capt. Kirk and Mr. Spock.

Return to Reno
Carlos Alazraqui portrays the slightly racist, and somewhat dimwitted member of the Reno Nevada Sheriff’s Department otherwise known as Dep. James Garcia Comedy Central's cop show spoof, Reno 911!, but he's also a very talented standup comedian and voice-over actor. If you've ever tuned in to Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon, you're sure to have heard his voice on any number of popular cartoons including Cat/Dog, Juniper Lee, Fairly Odd Parents, and Camp Lazlo. He was also the voice behind the wildly popular Taco Bell "Yo Quiero Taco Bell" campaign. Catch Carlos in the new season of Reno 911! tonight on Comedy Central.

The World's
Richest Brainiac

From June 2 to November 30 of 2004, brainiac Ken Jennings defeated 150 challengers and gave over 2700 correct responses to subjects ranging from Shakespeare to Hip Hop and in doing so won over $2.5 Million on the popular quiz show, Jeopardy! He not only set the record for number of victories on Jeopardy! and the record for most money ever won on a television game show, he also raised the show’s ratings by 22% and helped make the highest rated syndicated program on television. But even before all this fame, Ken Jennings was a trivia junky, absorbing useless facts while others were outside playing sports, which is why he's now able to write his own book of obscure facts, Ken Jennings: Trivia Almanac.

It's Like Having a Time Machine, Only Funnier
If an event of any importance has happened in the past, chances are comedian Scott Dunn can write a joke about it.  Well, not just a joke, an entire routine to be exact.  How can we make such a bold statement?  We have the proof.  Scott has spent the past year calling in to the show every Monday to give us a little history lesson, with a twist. These lessons aren’t boring and stuffy like when your grandpa rambles on about his youth.  No, these tales from times past are chock-full of jokes, laughs and even a few actual historical tidbits you might be able to use in a trivia game down the road.

He's Mike Birbiglia!
How could Mike Birbiglia's have known that the private musing he recorded in his personal diary would eventually become the most sought after literature in America? We doubt he did, (and we're also not sure that it is indeed the most sought after literature) but that doesn't change the fact that his Secret Public Journal has taken the country by storm. Because of this, he's made it a point to not only e-mail his loyal fans his inner most thoughts on a regular basis, he also calls into the BOB&TOM show every so often to read his entries live on the air. Will his next selection cover his infatuation with pizza, problem with sleepwalking, brother Joe, fear of bears or alter ego "Sleepy Carl." We can only hope.

The One and Only Bob Zany
Comedian Bob Zany may not realize it by the way we treat him when he calls in, but he's our most eagerly anticipated guest each week. There are few comedians working today that have the guts it takes to come on a nationally syndicated radio show every week and perform all new material. Then to top it all off, he invites listeners to call in and fix the jokes that some (meaning Tom) have deemed 'virtually laugh free.' Sounds fun doesn't it? Catch The Zany Report every Tuesday so you too can play "Fix the Joke Baby" where the prize package includes CDs, t-shirts, and a BOB&TOM VIP membership.

Street Venders Beware!
Paul Mecurio’s comedic talent was first utilized by Jay Leno when he was hired to write monologues for The Tonight Show. However, unlike a lot of other comedians, Paul already held a really good job before diving into comedy. After graduating with a law degree from Georgetown Law School, Paul began working as a lawyer and an investment banker on Wall Street. It was here that Leno discovered Mecurio and encouraged him to give up the high pressure world of stocks and bonds for a life of brick-wall backdrops and heckling audiences. Along with a promising standup career, Paul has become an Emmy Award winning writer for Comedy Central's The Daily Show and makes regular appearances on MSNBC and FOX News as a political satirist. He's also the man behind one of our favorite regular features, The Image Makeover.

FACTOID - Paul was recently published in the Sunday edition of the NY Times describing a confrontation he had with a street vendor.

Talking With T-Bag
This Monday on FOX, the saga of Prison Break is set to continue right where it left off, and the series is as popular as ever.  Though the story focuses around the adventures of two brothers trying to once again break out of prison, the most popular character may actually be “Theodore ‘T-Bag’ Bagwell,” also known as one of the scariest men on television.  This monster of a man is portrayed by actor Robert Knepper, whose acting credits also include Carnivale, The West Wing and ER.  This summer, Knepper will play an even more imposing character on the big screen when he takes over the title role of the feature film adaptation of best-selling video game, Hitman.

BONUSWhen Knepper calls in to the show, he’ll be joined by his father who’s a veterinarian from Ohio.  We’re hoping his dad will be able to answer the question, “can a vet really reattach a lost limb?”  We ask because that just happens to be one of the major plot points surrounding ‘T-Bag.’

Soon to Be Seen on YouTube
Master impressionist and comedian Frank Caliendo is no stranger to TV. He was a fixture on the sketch comedy show Mad TV, makes regular contributions to FOX NFL Sunday, and is the creator and star of Frank TV on TBS. But it seems that his most popular television appearances seem to take place as a guest on Late Night w/ David Letterman. His past visits on that program have become some of the hottest viral videos on the internet, and Franks hoping to duplicate that success when he appears with Dave again on Monday Night.

The Doctor is In
Bob & Tom PSYCHOtherapist, and long time friend of the show, Dr. Will Miller became popular for his theories on classic television and how those shows reflect on our own society and psychology. In his Book, Why We Watch, Dr. Will discussed everything from Gilligan's Island to Scooby Doo and how those reruns were actually the path to personal peace. Then in his next work, Refrigerator Rights, Dr. Will took an in depth look at what friendship in America is all about by examining how individuals give out Refrigerator Rights. In other words, how many friends do you have that are allowed to just walk right in your home and start rummaging through you're ice box? When listening to Dr. Will on our show, it's like watching the Dr. Phil show, only with good advice, and entertainment value.
