The
Rant Master
Auggie Smith, a 12-year veteran of comedy stages, is lovingly
referred to as "the rant master," and not just by
close friends. How does one go about receiving a clever name
such as this? In Auggie's case, it has to do with his enthusiastic,
rapid-fire, seamless stream of manic rants in his comedy act.
Tackling every thing from Barbie Dolls to serial killers, Auggie's
act often slips over to the dark side of political incorrectness
with ease. But it's all good
as long as his hysterical
rants continue to leave audiences breathless with laughter,
his career will continue to soar.
FACTOID
- When Auggie Smith was invited to perform at the Montreal
Comedy Festival, the organizers were so impressed they included
him
in 3 different showcases: New Faces, Dangerzone, And the Nasty
Show.

Cheech Marin,
Art Collector
Best known as the first name of the hilarious comedy duo ‘Cheech
and Chong,' Cheech
Marin has done much more than marijuana jokes to keep gaining
fans in each new generation. Movie goers may remember Cheech
and Chong from their many movies, including the extremely popular
(especially among pot heads) Up in Smoke,
but he’s also been known to play a few child friendly
roles such as Disney’s The Lion
King and Oliver & Company.
Over the years, Marin has expanded his career beyond acting
to include director, writer, musician, and art collector. It’s
this latter hobby that’s got Cheech appearing the news
again. His Chicano art collection, one of the largest in the
world, is being brought to life in a blockbuster museum exhibit
collectively entitled Chicano.
The exhibition will be featured in nine U.S. cities over the
next three years. When not promoting his art, Cheech keeps busy
with his acting career. This past summer, Cheech co-starred
Spy Kids 3 and
Once Upon a Time in Mexico and is currently working on
an all-new Cheech and Chong film.
FACTOID
– Cheech and Chong films are still the #1 weekend rentals
in the US.
FACTOID
– Cheech Marin also writes Children's books. Surprisingly
he authored My Name is Cheech, the School Bus Driver.

you can tune into ABC every Friday and see him on his TGIF sitcom

Frank Caliendo
Frank
Caliendo
is one of the most impressive impressionist working today. What
makes him such a coveted talent is that the range of characters
he can imitate is so vast. Few if any comedians can match Caliendo's
versatility when it comes to performing as John Madden, Ted
Knight, Adam Sandler, Robin Williams, Al Pacino, Jim Rome and
many more. He can pull these voices out in an instant and will
often have the different characters speaking to one another
in entire conversations. He seamlessly flows from one voice
to he next, and all of his impressions are dead on accurate.
When listening to him on the radio, you'd swear the studio was
full of celebrities, and not just one talented comedian with
split personalities. Caliendo can be seen showing off his talents
each week on the sketch comedy show MAD
TV, and he does sports picks on
the FOX NFL Pregame Show
but you never know who he'll be appearing
as.

The NFL Song:
Super Bowl Edition Volume 2
The stage is set, the teams are ready, and
the entire country is waiting in anticipation of the biggest
game of the year! It's time for the Super Bowl (or "The
Big Game" as the NFL makes us refer to it). The New England
Patriots and Carolina Panthers will square off in hopes of winning
one of the most prestigious prizes in sports, the Lombardi Trophy.
The Pats are very familiar with this situation having been here
two short years ago but this is all new territory for the relatively
young Panthers franchise. In fact, this is only the second time
in team history that the Panthers have made the post season.
Both teams poses stellar D's which were able to shut down their
competition's potent offenses in the Conference Championship
games. Though this may turn out to be a low scoring snoozer,
there's always the commercials to look forward too. So if you're
one of those folks that only watches one game per season, you've
got a lot of catching up to do if you want the big one to make
any sense. And what better way to find out what happened in
the season that was than with Duke
Tumatoe's popular, bluesy musical review, The
NFL Song.

The Switch-Hitter of Political Comedy
In what could be considered ambidextrous comedy, political satirist
Will Durst can take on both the right and left sides of the
aisle with ease. An equal opportunity offender, nobody appearing
in today’s headlines is safe from Durst’s keen wit
and quick barbs... all tastefully delivered, of course. Aside
from his standup forum, Durst also spouts his takes on America
in a daily Internet column, was a contributing editor to both
National Lampoon and
George magazines, and continues to write for the likes
of New York Times and the
San Francisco Chronicle. Durst
is a five-time Emmy nominee and host/co-producer of the award
winning PBS series "Livelihood" and is a regular commentator
on NPR and CNN. So where you're a Republican, Democrat or the
last remaining member of the Whig Party.. you'll be able to
appreciate and enjoy this Washington based comedy.

The Guitar Stylings
of Warren Haynes
You wouldn’t know it from listening to Warren Haynes play,
but there was a time when he was much more into the Motown sound
than guitar. It was only after being turned onto Eric Clapton
by his older brothers that he picked up the six-string. Not long
after discovering the pleasures of guitar playing, Warren found
himself performing at local pizza parlors that had been converted
into nightclubs. From these humble beginnings, Haynes
went on to make a lot of friends in the industry, which led to
him joining the Allman Brothers for eight very good years and
five even better albums. Turns out that playing for just one band
just isn’t enough for Mr. Haynes who went on to found the
group Gov’t Mule, as well as release a few solo albums.
You could call him a workaholic seeing as how Warren is currently
a member of the Allman
Brothers Band, Phil
Lesh and Friends in addition to being the lead guitarist and
vocalist for Gov’t
Mule. Warren Haynes just released a brand new solo album titled
The Lone EP which can be purchased
on his website. |

You're an All-Star
CBS' smash hit reality show Survivor,
is getting ready to do something for the very first time in
its eight season history... have an all-star game. 18 of the

And what would Survivor
be without host Jeff Probst. Will he be able to survive having
to deal with all these past participants? Will the game have
changed this time around, and what can we expect this season?
These are just a few of the questions we hope he'll be allowed
to answer. Survivor:
All Stars will air every Thursday on CBS.
FACTOID
- Jeff Probst recently wrote and directed the feature film Finder's
Fee, for which he was named 'one of the top-10 directors
to watch.'

Can Lightning
Strike Twice?
It's time again for that fabulous
feature, The Zany Report,
as brought to you each week by legendary comedic genius,
Bob Zany. Last week, Bob put together such a good report
that he even earned compliments from Tom,
but the big question is, can he follow that performance up with
another A+ effort? Are two hysterical weeks in a row too much
to ask? What we do know is that the always popular "Bing
Crosby Joke of the Week" will be back, and so will America's
Favorite game show "Fix the Joke Baby (Live)." So
once again some lucky fan will win a few T-shirts, Zany's chart
topping CD, I Just Can't Win
Baby, and a very valuable one year
subscription to the BOB&TOM VIP site.

The Kulick Brothers
Bruce & Bob Kulick have both been performing as for well
over 25 years. Both are accomplished guitarists. Bruce is also
a bassist and keyboard player, who has performed with a variety
of artists, including the legendary rock band KISS. For twelve
years the younger brother Bruce,
who just celebrated his 50th birthday in December, handled the
lead guitar duties. He also wrote and recorded songs on three
platinum and six gold records for the band. It was after and
MTV Unplugged special that KISS decided to go back to their
roots (AKA, go back to the face paint) and reform the original
band. This meant it was time for Kulick to move on with his
career. In late 2000, Bruce announced that he had joined another
legendary 70ˆs rock group Grand
Funk Railroad. Aside from his work with GFR, he’s
also released two solo albums Audio
Dog and Transformer.
Bob was the first of the Kulick brothers to pick up the guitar.
He was featured as lead guitarist on KISS's LIVE II album, but
has more often made a living as studio session player, live
touring band member, or producer. In 1971 Bob joined Hookfoot,
led by former Reg Dwight (Elton John) cohort Caleb Quaye, who
had been a member of the famed Bluesology, and recorded with
the band on their second album, "Good Times 'a Comin,",
released in 1972. In the early 1980's Bob emerged with the AOR
band Balance which combined Pepi Castro with keyboardist Doug
Katsaros. Bob co-wrote "Naked City" with Gene Simmons
for KISS's Unmasked album. In 1989 Bob hooked up with long-time
pal Paul Stanley for Paul's 25 date club tour.
FACTOID
– Bruce Kulick performed with the BOB&TOM band when
we took the show for a live event in West Palm Beach, FL.
