The Static Shack Gets Tricked Out
After experimenting with different arrangements and band names, guitarist Rick
Nielsen and bass player Tom Petersson joined
together with drummer Bun E. Carlos and
singer Robin Zander to form the legendary
rock band, Cheap
Trick. Since its formation in 1977, Cheap Trick has been all over
the music charts, releasing albums that have gone both platinum and gold,
while at the same time establishing a huge, loyal fan base which continues
to pack venues all over the country. Known for having one of the most
entertaining and energetic concerts in the business, it was their live
album Budokan that
spawned their first top ten hit, I Want You to
Want Me. By combining British guitar pop, heavy metal, punk, and
a flair for the absurd, the guys of Cheap Trick were able to carve out
a niche for themselves on the rock scene, one that's worked for nearly
three decades. The band continues to tour as well as release new studio
material. Their most recent album, RockFord,
will be released later this year, so we're sure they’ll break out
a few of their new tunes as well as a couple of classics when they perform
live at the Static Shack.

Everybody
Has a Price. Roy's is $4 Million
Roy
Wood, Jr. knew he was dedicated to stand-up comedy
when he basically flunked out of a semester of college
in order to M.C. at a comedy club the week of his
final exams. Though it may not have sounded like
a bright idea at the time, his calculated risk has
paid off. Wood has since become a regular writer
for a number of radio stations in the Birmingham,
AL area, was a semi-finalist on Star
Search and has become known for his mastery
of the art of prank calls. In fact, Roy has released
two prank call CD's over the years, My
Momma Made Me Wear This and Confessions
of a High School Bench Warmer. Roy made his
first visit to the BOB&TOM Studio less than a
year ago, however, he made such a good impression
that he was asked to take part in the huge Friends
of the BOB&TOM Show comedy special that will
air on Comedy Central later this year.
FACTOID – Roy
Wood, Jr. says that he greatest accomplishment
is performing on Live at the Apollo and not
getting booed.

The
Man Who Made Marsupials Funny Again
Since his first appearance on the show, Kevin
Pollak has become a legend for his piece about interviewing Christopher
Walken. In fact, at his shows, it's become his Stairway
to Heaven. According to Kevin, as soon as he begins the joke,
he can hear the people in the audience start to scoot closer to the stage
and he can see them mouthing the words as he goes. It's become so big
that there may even be t-shirts on the way, In other News, Kevin was
recently involved with an Academy Award nominated short film entitled Our
Time Is Up. When he agreed to be in it, he thought he was
just doing a favor for an up and coming writer/director. Now he's a part
of a highly successful film, and is getting none of the perks. If you'd
like to see this 12 minute short, we've been told it's available for
download on iTunes.

The
Office Temp
When news first broke that the hit British comedy series, The
Office, would be recreated for an American audience, many were
skeptical saying that there was no way it could be as good as the original.
Now late into its second season, the American version of The
Office is proving them all wrong. Much of the success has
to be credited to the stellar cast that was assembled to portray the
average folks wasting away at the small Scranton based Dunder-Mifflen
paper company. These actors, including B.J.
Novak, have been able to capture the essence of life in a typical
American Office. Novak plays Ryan Howard, the over-qualified temp who
would like nothing more than to be transferred out of this crazy office
and as far away from his boss, Michael Scott, as possible. Along with
his acting duties on The Office, Howard
is also a co-producer and one of the lead writers for the series. He
can also occasionally be seen performing stand-up comedy.
FACTOID - Before The Office, B.J. Novak
worked on the MTV prank show, Punk'd.

What a Guy
If you've heard him speak, you're going
to remember it because Geechy Guy has a voice thats
hard to mistake. You could also say that about his look,
and we mean that in the nicest way. Geechy
Guy is not only a favorite of the show (even though
we haven't seen him in years), he's also been dubbed 'the
master of one-liners' and holds a couple of comedy records
including the record for most jokes told in an hour (676)
and number of times winning the comedy competition on Star
Search (10) back when Ed McMahon
hosted. In fact, one of those wins came against sitcom
superstar Ray Romano. Geechy is a television veteran and
has performed on almost every stand-up show imaginable.
PHOTO - Upon comparing hand sizes, Geechy
noticed that his were noticeably bigger than Kristi's. Geechy
says that everything seems to get lost in his hands, while
Kristi claims her tiny hands make everything appear to be
much larger.

Ready
to Roast
Scott
Dunn began his post-college life by landing
a really good job as a marketing manager for a Fortune
500 company. To most people this would be a dream
come true, but for Scott, it was anything but. His
real dream remained unfulfilled, as he would spend
each night wishing he could put his talents as a
comedic writer to better use, since his jokes weren’t
really appropriate for or appreciated in the board
room. Dunn soon left his white-collar life and chased
his dream of becoming a comedic writer. Since that
time, Dunn’s gone on to develop a successful
comedy act as well as write for various programs
on Comedy Central. Scott is famous on the show for
performing his fake 'roasts' of famous historical
figures. His roast of Jesus popped up on the album Sideshow and
his most recent installment about George Washington
will most likely appear on a future B&T project.

You've
Heard Words to Remember...
Tim Bedore has been a weekly Wednesday
fixture on the show with his Vague
But True editorials, which is why we're so eager
to find out what his next installment will be about.
Over the past year, these musings have helped us
learn a lot about Tim, including his religious love
of golf, his thoughts on war, his feelings about
the horrible names parents have given kids, and his
theory on how animals are trying to wipe out our
species. But no matter the topic, we're happy he'll
be reporting on it from his new home up north, where
the introverts stare at their shoes and the extroverts
stare at your shoes. In other exciting news, Tim's
new CD, Vague
But True, is hot off
the presses. Get your copy of this new CD featuring
over 30 of Tim's best VBT's to date.

I Had the Right to Remain
Silent...
Comedian Ron
White has been performing stand-up comedy for many, many years
now, but it was only after he participated in the Blue Collar Comedy
Tour that his career truly took off. Since that time, Ron has starred
in his own WB special, sold over 500,000 copies of his first comedy DVD
(They
Call Me Tater Salad), and has been featured on The
Late Show with David Letterman, Blue Collar TV, Premium Blend and Comedy
Central Presents. Perhaps the best gauge of his celebrity status
is that he's even had a rumor circulate claiming that he was dead. If
you've seen Ron perform, you know that he doesn't really tell jokes;
he's actually more of a storyteller. Most of his tales involve his love
of adult beverages (especially scotch) or being kicked out of somewhere
(with one usually leading to the other), and many of his best stories
can be read in his new book, I
Had the Right to Remain Silent... But I Didn't Have the Ability.
FACTOID The
Ron White doll is a hot item at playgroundmaniacs.com!

One
Red Paperclip
Kyle MacDonald wanted
a house. There was just one problem, all he had to offer as
a down payment was a single red paperclip. Upon leaning that
no bank the country would accept that offer, he decided he
needed a plan. And what was that plan, you ask? He was going
to trade that paperclip for something else, and then keep on
trading for bigger and better things until he finally gets
himself a home. On July 12th, 2005, Kyle traded his paper clip
for a fish pen, which has since turned into an instant party
unit, a trip to Canada, a truck, a recording contract and is
now an afternoon with rock legend Alice Cooper. If you’ve
got something you’d like to trade Kyle, go to www.oneredpaperclip.com.

The
Joy of Zany
Comedian Bob
Zany may not realize it by the way we treat him when
he calls in, but he's our most eagerly anticipated guest
each week. There are few comedians working today that have
the guts it takes to come on a nationally syndicated radio
show every week and perform all new material. Then to top
it all off, he invites listeners to call in and fix the jokes
that some (meaning Tom) have deemed 'virtually laugh free.'
Sounds fun doesn't it? Catch The
Zany Report every Tuesday so you
too can play "Fix the Joke Baby" where the prize
package includes CDs, t-shirts, and a BOB&TOM VIP membership.
