Frankenstein Never Scared Me
Most people know Kevin Pollak as a Hollywood actor, and for good reason. Over the years he's starred in a number of hit films including The Usual Suspects, Grumpy Old Men, A Few Good Men and The Whole Nine Yards, but because Pollak is such a fine actor, many fans forget that he actually began his career as a standup comedian. At the age of 20, Kevin began performing on stage and made a name for himself with his dead-on impressions of William Shatner and Peter Faulk. It was then that George Lucas (of Star Wars fame) became familiar with Pollak's act and for some reason offered him a role in the movie Willow. Film critics loved Pollak and praised him for being an outstanding character actor which of course helped him to land even more acting gigs. Though he's currently kept busy hosting one of the hottest games on TV, Celebrity Poker Showdown, and still pops up in movies from time to time, Kevin hasn't forgotten his standup roots, and is now in the middle of a cross-country comedy tour.

From Wall Street to The Chuckle Hut
Paul Mercurio’s talent for comedy was first utilized by Jay Leno when he was hired to write monologues for The Tonight Show. However, unlike a lot of other comedians, Paul had a really good job before going into comedy. After graduating with a law degree from Georgetown Law School, Paul began working as a lawyer and investment banker on Wall Street. That's where Leno discovered Mercurio and encouraged him to give up the high pressure world of stocks and bonds for a life of brick-wall backdrops and heckling audiences. So far, the move has turned out to be a good one. Along with a promising standup career, Paul has become an Emmy Award winning writer for Comedy Central's The Daily Show and makes regular appearances on MSNBC and FOX News as a political satirist. Look for Paul's brand new standup special on Comedy Central which will air Friday, May 21st at 10PM ET.

Overachieving Bulldog
Tyson, a 3-year old English Bulldog from Huntington Beach, California taught himself to skateboard without any assistance from his human. As a puppy Tyson was surrounded by boarding, so it was only natural that as soon as he was old enough, he taught himself how to ride. Now he has his own skateboard and he's taking the world by storm, showing up in USA Today and on MSNBC and he even has an official sponsor. Tyson's the canine equivalent of Tony Hawk. To read more about this extraordinary quadruped, check out his website, and look for Tyson in the 10th Annual Big Dog Parade and Canine Festival, Saturday, June 5, 2004 in Santa Barbara, California. Be sure to check out Tyson's website!

Tom Selleck
Returns to CBS

Okay, so maybe the new CBS four-hour mini-series Reversible Errors isn’t exactly a Magnum PI reunion, but it does star the hunky, mustached, 80s heartthrob Tom Selleck as a detective trying to prove that the man he put behind bars really is guilty and deserving of the death penalty. The problem is, he’s got a nosey lawyer (William H. Macy) wanting to reopen the triple homicide case in an attempt to prove him wrong. The Emmy and Golden Globe Award winning actor returns to CBS following the success of his previous made for TV movie, 12 Mile Road. Though this film isn’t as soft, warm and fuzzy as his last one, it too is based on a best selling novel. In recent years, Selleck has been popping up all over television. His other notable TV appearances include a reoccurring role on the hit series Friends, and as General Dwight D. Eisenhower in the film Ike: Countdown to D-Day.

We've Got Our Finger
on the Button

For the most part,
Rob Haney is a very clean comedian (he's also extremely cheap, but that has nothing to do with the rest of this story). Instead of those dirty, raunchy, FCC regulated jokes that many others in his field choose to tell, Haney uses the trials and tribulations of family life to get audiences laughing. But try as he might, even Haney can cross the line. Take for instance the time he was reading an advice column that had a letter asking what to do if your best friend suffers from severe feminine odor? The answer given was to write her a poem explaining the problem. It sounded simple enough, so Haney took a stab at penciling his own prose to solve the problem. Though hilarious, Haney's poem had to be beeped. But, the bit did become one of the most requested pieces from BOB&TOM's album, Factory Air. Too bad we can't play it ever again.

Oh, It's Drew Again
He's tall, dresses all in black, wears dark rimmed glasses, has a thing for redheads, and sports a shower cap while bathing, but comedian Drew Hastings is still one of our favorite guests. He may be a frequent visitor to the Friggemall complex, but it's never boring when he stops by because with each appearance we gain a little more insight into the enigma that is Drew. Very few others… actually, no one else has ever shown up to the show wearing a sash, riding a horse, or driving an old, boat-sized automobile that they purchased on eBay. It's true that quirks like these are what lead us to believe he leads an “alternative” (metrosexual) lifestyle, but Drew insists that he's no different than anyone else. In fact, he say's he's Just Like You (check local listings).

Jack Blades
Though bass players are often considered the ‘blondes’ of most musician jokes and usually look like background decoration while on stage, bassist extraordinaire Jack Blades is an exception to the rule. As a member of Night Ranger, he fronted one of the top bands of the mid 1980s, writing and performing classic hits like Sister Christian and When You Close Your Eyes. During the 90s, Blades found a new home in the all-star laden rock group, Damn Yankees where he cranked out hits alongside Ted Nugent and Tommy Shaw. During these years, Blades kept busy recording with, writing songs for and producing albums with some of rock's biggest legends such as Aerosmith, Ozzy Osborne, Alice Cooper, Cher and Journey. Currently, Blades is back on tour with his buddies in Night Ranger, while at the same time promoting his brand new self-titled album, Jack Blades.

The Mystery Comic
Comedian Mike Stankiewicz is from Philadelphia, has been featured on Comedy Central and A&E, has appeared in a few made for TV movies, and is good friends with our buddy Pat Godwin. Other than that, we know nothing about this mystery man. Will he bomb? Will he be our new favorite comedian? We can’t be certain. Godwin assures us that after Mike makes his rookie appearance on the show, Stankiewicz will be a name you'll never forget. In response, Tom says that if he sucks, Pat will no longer be welcomed on the show.

The Holy Grail of Titanic Radio - A Huge Turtle
Rusty Reed loves turtles. His fascination with these reptiles led him to found The Blackwater Turtle Refuge, a place where turtles can live in peace without having to worry about those pesky human hunters tracking them down. Reed's hobby turned into an obsession after he decided that his Refuge should be used to save the Alligator Snapping Turtle, a nearly extinct species. The Alligator Snapper is the world's largest freshwater turtle, and it lives in only a handful of places in the US. One of the turtles living in Reed's refuge is the legendary shellback, Crunch. He's considered to be the most famous, oldest and largest (non-ninja) alligator snapping turtle in the world. Reed thinks of himself as Crunch's caretaker rather than his owner because he expects the turtle to outlive him by over 100 years.

Laughing on the Inside
Though comedian Bob Zany is often denied the laughs his legendary Zany Reports truly deserve, he hasn't thrown in the towel yet. Each week, Bob makes it his personal mission to deliver a Report that not only requires zero fixing, it also gets everyone in the studio to laugh (out loud) at least once. While we can't promise that this will be the week Zany's dream comes true, we can guarantee that there will be an all new installment of Fix the Joke Baby to save the segment, if needed. To play along at home and earn a chance at a fabulous prize package, just go to bobzany.com and peruse past Zany Reports for a joke that needs fixing. They shouldn't be that hard to find.
