Twice the Man
He Used to Be
When Martin Short took on the role as rotund reporter, Jiminy Glick, for Comedy Central's Prime Time Glick, it was more than his popularity that grew. Hidden somewhere inside a fat suit and blonde wig, Martin Short hosts somewhat of a talk show as the character of Jiminy Glick. Glick is an obese journalist to the stars that Dennis Miller describes as one of the "Top 100 Hollywood reporters" today. Short, as Glick, lands interviews with the biggest stars in Hollywood such as Jerry Seinfeld and Tom Hanks, but always seems to ask irrelevant questions, spread misinformation and often doesn’t pay attention long enough to hear his guests answers.

"It's not so much that he doesn't pay attention, it's that he's just a moron," says Short.

Instead of conducting an interview, he often spends his time attempting to adjust positions in his chair, or dining from a large bowl of jellybeans sitting on the table next time him (Usually requiring the Heimlich maneuver at least once a show). Aside from playing Glick, Short also gets to display his terrific slapstick comedy talents and impersonation skills in various commercial spoofs and behind the scenes skits. Prime Time Glick is back on Comedy Central in an all new season every Saturday night at 9:30 EDT.

Short is also taking part in a live stage show in Atlantic City, August 31, and September 1 "There will be a live band, some singing, lots of characters, and some standup comedy. It should be a lot of fun," says Short. Sticking with the stage, Short is going to be part of an LA production of The Producers, with costar Jason Alexander.

FACTOID – Martin Short was named a member of the Royal Order of Canada in 1994.

FACTOID – Jimmy Glick is married to wife Dixie, and has four sons, Morgan, Mason, Matthew and Modine.

Slam-tastic
Pat Croce is an exemplification of the phrase “success story.” He is credited as being the first man ever to work his way from training room to boardroom of an NBA franchise. His climb began after creating Sports Physical Therapists, a chain that included over 40 sports-medicine centers in 11 different states. He went on to sell his company and became President of the bottom dwelling Philadelphia 76ers. After only five years on the job, Croce helped lead the Sixers from worst place all the way to the NBA finals while at the same time setting franchise attendance, revenue, merchandise and consecutive win records. Never content in staying in the same place for too long, Croce has again moved on to try new things. "I told everyone when I took over as president that I would turn things around in five years. And after we made it to the finals, I walked away, looking for new challenges."

He is now a co-owner of the new extreme sport SlamBall. "SlamBall is righteous!," says Pat Croce. "It's the NBA, only a little different."

SlamBall is a full contact, human video game-like sport where teams of four run up and down a spring loaded court attempting to dunk on 15 foot rims while trying not to get killed by opposing players. "These guys are extreme athletes," says Croce. "These are the guys who would normally be out skateboarding in the park. I think this will catch on though... I mean, who would have thought we'd see snowboarding in the Olympics."

"I tried SlamBall the other day. Of course it was without all the other guys on the floor, I don't want to get killed," says Croce. "Finally, a white man can dunk."

Right now all six SlamBall teams are located in LA, but Croce hopes that soon at least 20 cities will have their own. Until then, get in on the action every Saturday night at 8 PM on The New TNN.

FACTOID - It probably doesn't surprise anyone, but Croce is also a best selling author. His motivation book, I Feel Great and You Will Too is still on the New York Times Best Seller list.

The Triumphant Return
of Dean Friedman!

In the summer of 1977, singer Dean Friedman struck pop music gold with his surprise hit single Ariel, about an irresistible, free spirited, music loving, vegetarian Jewish girl wearing a peasant blouse. The song was huge, but after Ariel's success, Dean seemed to disappear from the public eye. This caused many wonder what ever happened to him? Though he had a few more chart topping hits in the UK, and became and expert on high-tech video game technology, Friedman is still known as "the guy who sang that fun little song, Ariel".. which is by no means a bad thing. How many hit records do you have?

Stars Caught Waxing Off
While Tanya Memme was guest on the show, she revealed that she enjoyed the occasional bikini waxing. And according to her, she's not alone. For those in Hollywood looking to have hair removed, "south of the border," the only place to go is Pink Cheeks. Waxer of the stars, Dana Derrick, will be giving us the down and dirty on the popular stylized looks for today’s premiere privates, as well as the inside scoop on who among Hollywood’s elite (male and female) dare to go bare... downstairs.

Daddy's Little Girl

It’s hard enough facing the trials and tribulations of every day college life, but add on the pressure of having a Mob Boss for a father, and now you’ve got a taste of what it's like to be Meadow Soprano. Jamie-Lynn Sigler is the lovely young actress who gets to live under the watchful eye of Tony Soprano on the HBO smash-hit original drama, The Sopranos.

"When we first started, I don't think any of us thought this show would be the huge success that it has become," says Sigler. "We were all proud of our work, but this took us totally by surprise."

Beyond her role as Meadow, Sigler is also the author of her autobiography, Wise Girl, in which, the talented 21-year-old actor, dancer, recording artist and magazine cover model talks about everything from her serious bout with an eating disorder to life behind the scenes of The Sopranos.

"Some people criticized me for writing the book because I am so young, and thinking I was just going to talk about how great my life has been. But that's not the case. I have been through a lot, and I want to use this to be able to help other girls like that. I have been very active in the fight against eating disorders," says Sigler.

"The book is not all about the eating disorder though," she says. "The Sopranos takes up about 25% of my life, so of course that stuff is in there too. I got some help with how to write a book from people who had done it before, but all the writing was done by me."

It's been almost two years since season three signed off, and fans of the series have been anxiously awaiting their ticket back to the world of organized crime. The wait is almost over. Jamie-Lynn Sigler and the rest of the "family" return for season four of The Sopranos, September 15 on HBO.

"I am not allowed to talk about what happens on the show this season because we had to sign a contract saying we wouldn't. They couldn't wack me in real life for talking," says Sigler, "but they could easily kill off Meadow." And nobody wants that to happen... just look at these pictures. Thanks to Sigler and The Sopranos, Sunday night television will finally be worth watching again.

FACTOID - Jaime says that the cast is only signed on for one more season after this one, so it looks like Season Five could be the end of The Sopranos. However, if they take as long in-between seasons as they have in the past, that could be four or five years from now.

FACTOID - Originally, HBO wanted to replace Sigler with a blonde after the first four episodes, but it was deemed to expensive to re-shoot all of those scenes.

FACTOID - Though she plays an Italian, Jamie's true heritage is Cuban, Jewish-American and Greek.

Toby Keith:
The Angry American

Toby Keith, country star and reigning CMA Male Vocalist of The Year, made headlines recently when
World News Tonight anchor, Peter Jennings heard the lyrics of Keith's song, Courtesy of The Red, White & Blue (The Angry American), and canceled the singer's performance at a patriotic 4th of July tribute show. Turns out, very few people agreed with Jennings' views of the song, because just one week after its release, The Angry American climbed the charts all the way to #1. Read the full story

Toby Keith and guitarist, Scott Emerick joined Bob & Tom in the studio to share his controversial, yet extremely popular song as well as a few other "silly tunes" that have yet to appear on one of his albums.

"We have quite a few of these songs that Scott and I make up while just sitting on the bus," says Keith. "It's nice to be able to play them in a place where people besides us to get to hear them. They probably wouldn't go over too well in a concert."

Keith and Scott played "fake" songs (As Mr. Griswold referred to them) about the Taliban, smoking weed with Willie Nelson, and not letting a fat women into his trailer after a show. "Those are about all of the ones we could play on the air," says Keith. "The other ones are pretty much only safe on the bus."

Titanic Revisited
The Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago is extending its popular Titanic: The Exhibition though Oct. 31 in order to feature newly recovered items, including the main wheel and bridge telegraph. A team from RMS Titanic, Inc., including the exhibit’s lead designer Mark Lach, completed its sixth expedition to the wreck site last month. The 25,000-square-foot exhibit in Chicago includes more than 400 artifacts, recreations of a first-class stateroom, third-class cabin, engine room and grand staircase as well as a 13-ton piece of the Titanic hull.

"A lot of people don't know this, but the Titanic wreck site is actually in international waters, but ruled over by a court in the US," says Lach. "You aren't allowed to remove anything from the actual ship, but when the boat snapped in half on the surface, and then fell two miles to the bottom of the ocean, the two halves landed a mile apart. This means there is debris all over the ocean floor, and we are free to take any of that."

So far, nearly 750,000 people have passed through the museum’s exhibit, and the date has been extended to accommodate more people. "This has been a very popular exhibit, and a lot of it is because this stuff is in such good shape. Things don't really wear away down there as much as they decay. It's not eroding, it's being eating by little bacteria. Thanks to this exhibit, we will be able to enjoy this stuff for years to come," says Lach.

FACTOID - Though this was Lach’s first trip down to the famous shipwreck site, RMS Titanic, Inc. had been down 5 times before, recovering almost 5,000 artifacts over its years of diving.

Mr. Glass is Back

After taking time off to pursue other interests such as television, films, and the occasional one-man show (which ironically, usually starred more than one man), Todd Glass is back on stage doing the job that made him famous, standup comedy. He’s been featured on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Late, Late Show with Craig Kilborn, Dennis Miller Live and starred in a season finale episode of Friends, but fans still wanted more. We’re not sure that’s the reason he’s returned, but Todd is bringing his brand of comedy, which laughs in the face of traditional standup, back to clubs and college campuses all over the country. You’d better catch him live while you can - he could easily change his mind and head back to LA at any time!

FACTOID - Todd Glass has admitted to hating his laugh, hating bumper stickers, constantly coming up with "what if "situations," and desperately wants to join Bob & Tom for the Bahamas trip.

Attention Must Be Paid
Comedian Jimmy Pardo commands respect, and maybe some day he’ll get it. Even though he’s a well accomplished comedian, with a number of impressive credentials on his resume, the cast of The Bob & Tom Show still love to give Pardo a hard time. The abuse can, and often does take many forms, whether it be his petite 5’4” frame, the fact he likes his haircuts “high and tight,” the pet name shared by he and his girlfriend (who once dated comedian Matt Weinhold), or his bombing on The Tonight Show. Pardo’s not one to sit back and take it, he gets his share of shots in using that trademarked high-energy sarcasm, and improvisational wit of his. If that doesn’t work, he just walks off the show. It’s not that we don’t love Pardo (as opposed to what our bumper stickers say) we just have to much fun pushing his buttons.

FACTOID - Unafraid to tackle any medium, Jimmy Pardo recently starred in an award-winning short film, "Some Kinda Joke" and in his one-man show, aptly titles, "Attention Must Be Paid: The Jimmy Pardo Story." He also enjoyed success with his standup special "Comedy Central Presents… Jimmy Pardo."

Ready... Aim...

Just when you think your life is complete, and things couldn’t possibly get any better, something comes along and makes you wonder how you ever got along without it. If any invention exemplifies this point, it's Johnny Glow, the glowing toilet bowl strips that help you find and hit your mark... even in the dark. Thanks to co-creator Jonathan Bell, there is no need to turn on the bathroom's blinding lights in the middle of the night while wondering around in a slumber-induced stupor. Johnny Glow illuminates the bowl with an eerie, yet strangely calming, glowing green ring, so you know exactly where to aim (hitting the target is still up to you.) Stop walking back to bed with wet feet, or accidentally letting go with the lid down, get Johnny Glow. Just 15 minutes of charging yields 10 hours of unadulterated fluorescent fun for the whole family.

FACTOID - Johnny Glow is so hip, it even has it's own theme song!

Seriously Funny

If you didn't listen closely to the lyrics, you might think Henry Phillips was sweetly serenading you with heart felt melodies. But upon closer examination, you realize his innocent sounding tunes are actually sprinkled with clever, off beat, and sometimes psychotic lyrics that are laugh out loud funny. Songs like She’s Talkin’ Again, The First Time I Saw You, and When We Were Young, have become favorites on the comedy circuit, as well as those of Bob & Tom listeners. Henry’s bizarre mix of a straight delivery and “taboo-smashing” refrains stem from his attempts as an early musician to write serious love songs that nobody wanted to listen to. He discovered his comic capabilities while reading the paper to his buddy one day, and delivering it while playing one of his folk tunes. He ended each calamity filled story with the line “So what do you want me to do about it…” and that became Phillips'’s first comedy hit. And now you know the rest of the story.

Graham Nash Reinvents Himself Again

After almost a decade, Graham Nash of
Crosby, Stills & Nash fame has released a solo album. The record’s title is Songs for Survivors, and that seems fitting seeing as how Nash’s career has survived countless trends and changes in music over the 30 plus years since CSN first hit the music scene. This album is Nash’s fourth solo project, and he says it’s a unique mixture of songs written just a few days before recording as well as tunes he’s had with him his entire life.

"I wrote and rehearsed a lot of these things right before we started, and then recorded them in groups of six," says Graham. "I wanted this to be a beautiful and simplistic album that people could just sit and listen to."

Though Nash hasn’t been frequenting the recording studios, he's been keeping busy touring with band mates Crosby, Stills and Young. CNSY, as a whole, was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll hall of fame back in 1997, and their 2002 tour is still getting rave reviews.

"We are going to all get together and put out a Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young album very soon," says Graham. "But before that I am going to go on tour for
Songs For Survivors."

Aside from music, Nash is also an avid photographer. His upcoming book,
From Eye to Eye, will feature over 150 of Nash’s black & white photographs taken over the years. In choosing the images for the publication, he painstakingly went through over 20,000 of the other pictures he’s taken during the past four decades.

"I want a lot of the money raised by this book to go to children's charity. The book should be out in early October," says Graham. "I can't wait to see it on shelves."

FACTOID - The cover of the book Shakey, the biography of Neil Young, is actually a photo taken by Graham Nash.

Defibrillators Are Standing By
Tanya Memme is making a super secret surprise visit to The Bob & Tom Show, and this may just be the trigger for the Chickster's next heart attack. Miss Memme may not be a mainstream celebrity (yet), but she's sure been causing a stir in the McGee household. If Tanya spent any more time on Chick's television screen she'd be paying rent. Tanya is a former Miss World Canada (she gave back her crown after a five month reign) and can be seen Co-hosting TLC’s Robotica, But no matter what she accomplishes in her career, to Chick, Tanya will always be known as the face of DIRECTV's information Channel 201.

FACTOID - Though Tanya doesn't have a special voice she uses to talk to her pet cat Oscar, she does have a "dolphin" voice that comes out after dating a guy for awhile. "If I can do that in front of a guy, I know we can move to the next level." Chick asked if the next level involved the "beaver" voice. Tanya had no comment.
