A
Comic Reflects
on Childhood
When John Heffron's
parents found out that he'd been skipping night school classes in order
to pursue his dream of performing stand-up comedy, they weren’t
thrilled. But how were they supposed to know that one day this truant
teen would climb the ranks of the comedy world and be among the final
three contestants on NBC's Last
Comic Standing. With a fresh, youthful appearance and the
outlook of a man trying to figure out life as a grown up, Heffron is
one of comedy's rising talents. Before he became a reality TV star, John's
other television credits included appearances onThe
Tonight Show , Premium Blend and NBC's
Friday Night. But now, more than anything else, John is concentrating
on the fact that he is still in the running for the LCS grand
prize. He performed his final set this past Tuesday, so all he can do
now is hope that America liked him more than Alonzo Bodden and Gary Gulman.
We figure he's got a 1-in-3 chance of winning the thing, and those aren't
bad odds.
SIDE NOTE -
John Heffron is one of the two comics behind the "That
Guy Game!" which has become a popular pastime at bachelorette
parties everywhere.

The
Doctor is In
Wearing a custom tailored suit jacket and sporting a
curly pony tail, you may be asking yourself just who exactly
is Doc Barham?
Well, maybe you didn’t, but that was the first question
to cross our minds when he showed up on our doorstep. Turns
out, he’s a standup comedian, one that’s not afraid
to take on any subject, even if that means crossing over into
the realm of political incorrectness. Doc’s comedy has
been featured on a number of television networks including
ABC, PBS and Comedy Central. If you'd like to learn more about
Doc Barham, it might be worth purchasing his first comedy album, Mommy,
The Clown Bit Me.

Don't
Let the Name Fool You, He's Actually Quite Big
Whether he's talking about his lack of hair or focusing on his hefty
size, comedian Rob
Little always tries to place a positive spin on everything. The difference
between Rob and an ordinary happy, fat, bald guy is that his sunny takes
on life usually conclude with clever punchlines. With a personality that's
been described as the unlikely combination of Chris Farley and Jack Black,
it didn't take Rob long after to college to realize that working for
IBM wasn't a good fit. Instead, he left his office life behind to become
a standup comedian, and just look what it's gotten him so far. He's a
graduate of the world famous Second City comedy team, he's headlining
comedy clubs across the country, and he landed a job as a sketch player
on The Best Damn Sports Show Period.

Vince
Gill & The Notorious Cherry Bombs
Vince
Gill is considered by many to be the ambassador of Country
music, and with as much as he’s accomplished in the industry,
there’s nobody more qualified for the job. He’s
won more CMA honors (17) than any other artist in history,
including being named Entertainer of the Year twice. He’s
also got 14 Grammy awards on his trophy shelf, which is more
than any other Country singer has won since the late Chet Atkins.
Gill's been burning up the Country charts since he went solo
in 1989, when he busted on the scene with the hit song “When
I Call Your Name.” Before that, Vince found a home playing
in Rodney Crowell’s high-energy country band, The Cherry
Bombs. The group's initial run only lasted two solid years
before breaking up, but after nearly a decade and a half apart,
they've made it clear that they've still got it. Now known
as The
Notorious Cherry Bombs, the reunited band has already made
headlines with the controversial song, “It’s Hard
to Kiss the Lips At Night,” which is featured on their
new self-titled album,
FACTOID – In
the Cherry Bombs new music video, Vince Gill does something
he’s never done before in his career (as far
as we know). He dressed in drag.
FACTOID -
Vince Gill is a huge fan of The Mr. Obvious Show.

Larry The Cable Guy, Foxworthy& friends will lampoon television as
they take a Blue Collar look at game shows, the hit drama "CSI" and

True
Blue Comedy
Truly one of the funniest and most well respected comics in the nation,
it's no wonder that Robert
Schimmel is featured alongside fellow funnymen Bill Cobsy, Dennis
Miller, George Carlin, Sam Kinison and many more on the new comedy compellation
CD, Hey
That's Funny!: Comedy's Greatest Hits. Now it's true that
Schimmel is frank, funny and usually surrounded by controversy due to
his comedy's blue nature, but it's not because Schimmel is excessively
dirty. It's just that his comical musings tend to focus on darker subjects
than most. However, this hasn't kept him from appearing on multiple HBO
specials, one of which, Unprotected,
is finally available on DVD.

Fix-the-Joke
Zany
It's time again for that fabulous
feature, The Zany Report,
as brought to you each week by Bob
Zany. This courageous comic runs the comedy gauntlet every
Tuesday, hoping that his report will trigger an eruption of
laughter that will fill the halls of the Friggemall building.
Though he often comes up just shy of his lofty goal, this legendary
talent doesn't know the meaning of the word quit. In addition,
one lucky fan will attempt to improve on one of Zany's punchlines
by playing Fix The Joke, Baby, and
in doing so, will win a boatload
of prizes including a one year BOB&TOM
VIP membership, a couple of ultra
cool T-shirts and a copy Zany's highly sought after CD, I
Just Can't Win Baby.

The Show With Bill Scheft
Former standup comedian turned writer,
Bill Scheft pens the the column "The
Show" in Sports
Illustrated, and is the
author of one of the greatest novels of our generation, The
Ringer, but right
now he's first and foremost a sports fan. Though most people
feel like this is the slowest time of year for sports, Scheft
disagrees. With the pennant races on in Major League Baseball,
NBA free agency coming to a close and the NFL entering its
pre-season, Bill has more than enough material to write about.
Speaking of baseball, if you see Scheft on the street, make
sure to ask him how his Red Sox missed out on landing Randy "The
Big Unit" Johnson, he always appreciates that. Scheft
is one of the most comically gifted geniuses we've ever had
on the show, and ranks among our favorite guests (we've even
had him sit in as a co-host when Bob was away).
