They Call
Him Tater Salad
Comedian Ron
White has been performing stand-up comedy for many, many years
now, but it was only after he participated in the Blue Collar Comedy
Tour that his career truly took off. Since that time, Ron has starred
in his own WB special, sold over 500,000 copies of his first comedy DVD
(They
Call Me Tater Salad), and has been featured on The
Late Show with David Letterman, Blue Collar TV, Premium Blend and Comedy
Central Presents. But don't be alarmed , his touring days aren't
over. In fact, he's in the middle of a big cross country comey tour right
now, and the BOB&TOM show just happens to be one of the stops.
FACTOID - Ron owns a rodeo bull named "Scene
of the Crash" - you can see
him in action on YouTube!

Mr.
Late Night
For four years, Dave
Attell hosted Insomniac on Comedy Central, a show in which
Dave would travel across the country, perform standup comedy, and then
go out to find each city's hot spots to drink and party. Not a bad gig
at all. But if you thought the stuff you saw him say and do on cable
television was "adult oriented," just wait until you see him
on stage when the cameras aren't rolling. Some consider Attell to be
a "comic's comic," but according to him, he's just a guy trying
to make a living by making people laugh and selling a few drinks. By
the way, if you missed it on Comedy Central, all four seasons of Insomniac are
now available on DVD.

The Devil
You Know
At last, fans of singer/songwriter Todd
Snider can rejoice because the guy who brought us Beer Run,
the song that changed a generation (or at least a considerable number
of people), has finally released the companion DVD to his most recent
album, The
Devil You Know. The DVD contains previously unreleased live
performances, music videos and the short film Come to East Nashville.
Make sure to catch Snider when he makes his long awaited return to the
Friggemall Building because you never know when he might bust out his
next mega-hit like Beer Run, Iron Mike, Statistician's Blues or Vinyl
Records. |

Everybody
Loves Reymundo
Though he began his career in comedy as a way to score with chicks, Alex
Reymundo soon discovered that everyone (regardless of gender)
was falling in love with him. That included funnyman Paul Rodriguez
who loved him so much, he invited Reymundo to join him on five
nationwide tours. Their show got even bigger when they teamed up
with Cheech Marin and George Lopez, and dubbed themselves “The
Original Latin Kings of Comedy.” This funny foursome then
went on to film the most successful comedy special in the history
of the Showtime network, and one that would sell over 1 million
DVDs. Alex has also appeared on HBO, Showtime, A&E, and Comedy
Central and on the Spanish network, Telemundo. These days he's
touring with another guy who is familiar with foursomes, Ron White.

New York
Dreamer
Kevin
Brennan decided to move to the Big Apple to pursue his
dream of appearing on The Late Show with David Letterman.
After only a few short years, that dream came true and
Brennan took full advantage of it. Little did he know that
this one show would lead to even more opportunities like
appearing on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, and Last
Call with Carson Daily, having his own HBO comedy
half-hour special and becoming a writer for Saturday
Night Live. So you see, sometimes it isn't frivolous
to pursue your dreams.

Picture Perfect
The last time comedian Rob Haney came on, we posted the only head shot
of him that we could find, and it looked like it was taken back
in the early 80s. Not happy with this, Haney asked us to remove
it and replace it something else, so we took a picture using the
studio camera, and he asked us to remove that one too because it
made him look about 20 years older than he actually is. You just
can't please some people. But putting his pictures aside, Rob is
known to be an extremely funny guy, a wonderful joke teller, and
most importantly, extremely cheap, (or as he likes to spin it, "price
conscience"). Astute listeners out there will recognize his
voice from the famous Dog for Sale joke that appears on the album Gone
Wild.
FACTOID -
Rob Haney owns his own comedy club, Wileys,
in Dayton, OH

"The
Big O" Oscar Robertson
When he was drafted by the Cincinnati Royals back in 1960, many people
thought that Oscar
Robertson was going to be a good player, but no one could have imagined
that he was going to become a player that all others would be compared
to. His legendary career included an NBA Championship, a Rookie of the
Year award, 12 trips to the All-Star game, an All-Star MVP, a year in
which he averaged a triple-double, an NBA MVP and being named to the
All-NBA First team nine times. And if that's not enough, he is also an
Olympic gold medallist, was elected to the NBA Hall of Fame and was named
one of the NBA's 50 Greatest Players. Though he his known mostly for
his professional career, Robertson actually came to the nation's attention
in high school when he lead Crispus Attucks High School to their first
state championship, which was also the first state championship for an
all-black high school in the nation (a story that is captured in the
documentary, Something
To Cheer About)

FACTOID -
Oscar Robertson also played on a the Crispus Attucks team
that lost in the semi-finals to Milan High School (the
team featured in the movie Hoosiers) and the team that
went undefeated and won a second straight state title.

Jesse James
Dupree: Rocker and Reviewer
When he first began playing with the band Jackyl, Jessie James
Dupree was known more for his chainsaw antics on stage than
he was for his lead singing and guitar playing. But after the release
of his first solo project, Foot
Fetish people soon realized that there was a lot more to this southern-fried
rocker than his ability to use power tools. These days, Dupree is back
with Jackyl and continues
to tour the country, but even when he's not playing, he still enjoys
attending other band's rock concerts, like Van Halen for instance. Dupree
was recently at one of VH's sold out shows, and he's going to be kind
enough to call in and give us his review.

Winning
Friends With Tales of Failure
After graduating from Wake Forest University back in 2000, Jeremy
Essig had a decision to make. Should he jump right back in to his
studies and apply for graduate school, or should he follow his dream
of performing in front of live audiences across the country? Like any
clear thinking adult, Essig happily chose option number two. Since making
that life changing decision Essig has developed an act that incorporates
his thoughts on current events, music and religion, along with plenty
of stories of his own personal failures. And judging by what the stories
he's told us in the past, that well isn’t running dry any time
soon.

Fun With Costaki
Comedian Costaki Economopoulos may
be the star of our most oddly named segment, but it also happens to be
one of the funniest. Since it's debut a few months ago, The Economonologue,
as he's dubbed it, has covered a variety of topics including strange
superstitions, odd phobias and the origin of clichés. Costaki's
able to take the things he sees and hears in everyday life and turn turn
them into comedic observations you won't be able to believe you haven't
thought of before, and will never be able to forget. |

Conspiracy
Theorist
It's been a long seven days since we last visited with comedian Tim
Bedore, which is why we're so eager to have him back on his special
line ready to deliver another exciting edition of Vague
But True. Live from his home in Minnesota where he's seated comfortably
at mission control, Tim shares his thoughts on life, society, politics
and his day to day activities, presented in the form of in-depth, entertaining
editorials. Over the past few years, these musings have helped us learn
a lot about Bedore, including his thoughts on downloading movies, the
joy one can find in a SkyMall magazine, his time spent at summer camp
and his theory on how animals are trying to wipe out our species.

NFL:
The Musical
After a wild weekend of football,
is there any better way to catch up on all the action
than through song? We didn't think so either, which is
why we've once again asked Duke
Tumatoe's to join us in
the studio to talk about the weekend that was and fill
us in on all things NFL with his aptly named NFL
Song. Why ESPN hasn't caught
on to this tradition we have no idea.

Robert Klein
is Boxed In
One of the lofty goals that all comedians strive to reach is to star
in their very own HBO standup comedy special. Few comics ever achieve
this honor, and of those that do, even fewer are able to do it multiple
times. Legendary comdian Robert
Klein is one of those rare talents, only he's not starred in just
one or two specials, he's had eight. From 1975's An
Evening with Robert Kleinto 2005's The
Amorous Busboy of Decatur Avenue, Klein has produced some of the
network's most beloved standup specials. Now, for the first time ever,
all of these classic routines are available in a speical DVD boxed set, Robert
Klein: The HBO Specials.
FACTOID - Robert Klein's first HBO special
was also the network's first comedy special. |

It's All
Been Dunn Before
In the world of the BOB&TOM Show, Scott
Dunn has become famous for his celebrity roasts and the ability to
turn any event in history, no matter how obscure, into a comedy routine.
So far he's skewered Ben Franklin, the Burr Hamilton dual, the Louisiana
Purchase, George Washington, first Thanksgiving, and even the funeral
of Abraham Lincoln. Now each Monday, Scott surprises us with a new history
lesson in which you're guaranteed to laugh and might even learn a little
something too. |
