Almost an Idol

Mother, musician and Ohio native Crystal Bowersox was arguably the best contestant on season nine of "American Idol," but when the final votes were tallied, she came up just short, becoming the first runner-up on the hit FOX reality show. Self described as a folk rock and blues singer, Bowersox has been playing guitar and singing since the age of ten. Though she didn’t win, she does have the distinction of being the final person critiqued by judge Simon Cowell when he said “That was outstanding.”
