After playing a character for nearly three decades, it becomes hard to differentiate the actor from the character, but Eric Braeden and Victor Newman are two totally different men. Braeden is the actor that’s been portraying wealthy businessman Victor Newman on CBS’s long running daytime soap The Young and the Restless since 1980, a role he’s won an Emmy for. He began his life as Hans Gudegast, living in Kiel, Germany before moving the US after High School. After staying in New York for a short time he moved to Texas and then eventually to L.A. where he began acting on stage and in film. He was the first German actor to play an American role, but the studio bosses persuaded him to change his name to Eric Braden. Eric has since gone on to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, has become one of the most recognizable faces on daytime TV, and recently starred in the film The Man Who Came Back, which is now available on DVD.
