Ed Carpenter

Hit the Bricks

Growing up with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in his backyard with Laura and step-father Tony George as parents, Ed Carpenter was no stranger to racing. Before he became a regular in the IndyCar Series, Carpenter was a short track racer in the United States Auto Club (USAC) midget, sprint and Silver Crown Series. He made his midget debut in 1998 at the now defunct 16th Street Speedway, just down the road from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Carpenter has driven for Vision Racing in the Indy Car Series since the team's inaugural season in 2005 and has more starts for the team than any other driver. He currently claims the team's best start of fourth (Michigan 2006, Homestead 2009) , as well as the team's best start (10th) and the team's best finish (5th) at the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing", the Indianapolis 500.
