Courtney in Afghanistan

Hi Bob, Tom and Christy,
My daughter, Courtney, is in Afghanistan and listens to you every morning. She’s in the Army National Guard and is on a volunteer deployment there. She guards the agriculture team who is teaching the local villages to plant and grow crops. She’s 21 and has qualified as EXPERT on every weapon. She’s a gunner and sits in the big truck on top with the big gun. She’s a girly-girl so it blows my mind that she loves so much doing what she’s doing. She also guards the DAWA who is the Afghan woman that goes around to the different villages helping the women learn about live-stock and agriculture. She’s also involved in the women’s’ empowerment group. Helping women take a stand against the violence the men show towards them. She also sits in on their school which takes place outside on dirt… sitting on mats. She loves the children there. They run after the truck smiling with their thumbs up. They love American soldiers.

Remind people that the war may be over, but it takes a lot of guts to go out there and try to make this world a better place by putting themselves in harms way to teach the less fortunate how to better themselves. I hope you have a beautiful day,
