Easy For You To Say

Back in 1993, Costaki Economopoulos was a man divided. Part of him wanted spend his time honing his skills as a standup while his more practical side urged him to finish his work as a graduate student at the University of Georgia. For the most part, his practical side won out, but once he graduated, the comedian in him took over and Costaki put master's degree to good use by becoming a full-time comic. With his Greek heritage, it's not surprising that he's been described as a “joke philosopher,” and we're sure he's not the only one saying that. Costaki is also a talented joke writer who's punchlines have been heard on "The Tonight Show," BET, and MTV. In other news, he's recently released a new CD, The Economonologe, and he has a daughter with the beautiful and funny comedienne Caroline Rhea.

Bowling For Soup

Though they can’t bowl, and soup is rarely on their menu, the drunken power-rock band Bowling For Soup have been riding a wave of success since earning their first Grammy nomination in 2003. Bowling Four Soup, or BFS for short, began back in Texas when guitarist Christ Burney and bassist Wrik Chandler formed a band that would frequently (and conveniently) play at a coffee shop owned by Burney. As fate would have it, there was another band that often performed there that just happened to include BFS drummer Gary Wiseman and lead singer Jaret Reddick. Luckily for all of them, their two bands dissolved at the same time, and they decided to team up to form one kick-ass group. They do admit that the only reason they originally teamed up was so they could party and drink beer, it wasn’t long before they were signed to a label and had a number of hit songs playing all over the country including the Grammy nominated “Girl All the Bad Guys Want” and “1985.” Their new album, Sorry For Partyin', is now for sale and recently hit the top 10 chart on iTunes.

Frazzled

If you saw copies of the BOB&TOM albums ManBoobs, Greetings From the USA, Radio Waves and Operation Radio and thought the art style looked familiar, you're probably a fan cartoonist Jef Mallett and his comic strip, Frazz. The strip centers around a young man named Edwin “Frazz” Frazier who hit it big as a songwriter, but decided to keep his job as the janitor of his old elementary school. Now he's not only a friend to both the students and staff, he's also the most well respected “educator” in the school. Frazz can be seen in papers around the country and is also in a number of book collections including the most recent Frazz: 3.1416. Community Service

Joel McHale has the type of job most of us would love to have. He spends the week watching television, then picks the funniest, most outrageous, and completely mindless clips to show us each week on his show "The Soup," (not to be confused with it’s predecessor, "Talk Soup") On the show, Joel skewers talk shows, reality TV, morning shows, and idiotic celebrities while at the same time poking fun at all things pop culture. When not in front of his television or the studio camera, Joel still finds time to perform stand-up comedy around the country. He’s also becoming quite the actor, having appeared on the shows "Pushing Daisies" and "CSI: Miami," and in the films The Onion Movie, Lords of Dogtown and in the new sitcom, Community with Chevy Chase which airs at 8 p.m. every Thursday on NBC.

Aged and Confused

It was over a decade ago that Bill Engvall first became famous for his “Here’s Your Sign,” standup routine, and though that phrase helped launch into pop culture, it still can't compare with the fame that came from being part of the fab four known as The Blue Collar Comedy Tour. Then, after dabbling in film with Larry the Cable guy in Delta Farce, Bill returned to TV in his very own TBS sitcom, "The Bill Engvall Show". In other news, Bill recently released a brand new CD, Aged and Confused, and will be debuting a comedy special by the same name Sunday, November 21 on Comedy Central. The DVD will be released the following Tuesday.

<![CDATA[Kevin Bozeman]]> Fri, 20 Nov 2009 00:00:00 -0800 http://www.bobandtom.com/guest/bozeman-kevin/10323

Comedy Without Issues

Having come from a loving two parent home with a supportive family, and after never being in a crappy, debilitating relationship it's a wonder how Kevin Bozeman became a stand-up comedian. When he hits the stage it's not because it's therapeutic or because he's working through issues, it's because he enjoys telling jokes. Kevin is not only big on the comedy club scene, he's also appeared on Comedy Central and on CBS's "Star Search." So needly to say, he pretty much kicks ass.

<![CDATA[Dwight York]]> Fri, 20 Nov 2009 00:00:00 -0800 http://www.bobandtom.com/guest/york-dwight/10330

Straight From the Vile File

While it's easy to confuse some comics with one another, you'll never mistake "Vile File" mastermind Dwight York for anyone else. He's style of comedy and manner of misdirection make him one guy you'll never forget. York comes loaded with an endless onslaught of one-liners and short stories ranging from the innocent “They say gambling is a sin, but I’m betting god will forgive me,” to the slightly more bawdy “I brought home a woman from the bar last night but ended up passing out on the couch. I must've grabbed the wrong drink.” Many of these jokes are as fun to read as they are to listen to which is why Dwight has compiled the best of the worst and put them in his book, The Vile File.
