Known as one of the best and most well respected stand-up comedians in the nation, Robert Schimmel developed a unique style that was frank, funny and extremely blue in nature. However, part of Schimmel's charm came from his ability to discuss dark and taboo topics that made people laugh and squirm at the same time. He was also never afraid to speak his mind or be open about his real life problems including his heart attack, battle with cancer, and marriages. Many of these subjects were covered in his his book, Cancer on $5 a Dayand in his final Showtime Special, Life Since Then, available on DVD.
