A Life I Could've Had Dave Dyer

An excerpt from Dave Dyer’s forthcoming fictional autobiography called “A Life I Could’ve Had…”

“Of course, the notion that anything was going to come of this chance encounter was ridiculous. While she wasn’t married, she’d been in a very public and committed relationship for more than a decade. As for me, I didn’t think there was a woman in this solar system that could cajole me away from my bird-doggin’ lifestyle. And if you had told me there was, I would’ve slapped you across the face with the back of my hand, making sure my knuckles fully contacted the cheekbone and ensuring my message would be received. But now….now, I knew, that woman did, in fact, exist. She was real and I was privileged enough to be watching her sip Mimosas, eat mini quiches, and network with the upper crust of Hollywood the way I can only imagine Harvey Weinstein does. It didn’t take long for other people to start noticing the kismet that was happening. Cruise strolled by at one point and flippantly threw out a, ‘Take a picture, it’ll last longer.’ I expected more syllables from a man who does his own stunts, but we don’t get everything we want in this life and that’s what makes it special.”
